DAN 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
What time shall Michael stand up? Chapter 11 ends with “DAN 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.” He shall plant the tabernacles of his palace – he is – we could say the pope but who is his boss? It is the devil himself. The tabernacles are of course, worship places which also identify with worship times which must include a calendar that shows the precise times. This is important because earlier in Daniel (7:25) we know that it stated that “he shall think to change times and laws”. Times, worship times, and laws, the ten commandments. How can he change times. First we must acknowledge that God is the one who set time in motion with the sun, moon and stars (which established the first calendar) during the creation week. Without the involvement of all the great lights, any other calendar is false, out of sink and cannot establish God’s worship times. One such calendar is the Gregorian calendar that uses the sun only to maintain its functionality. Then in the ten commandments, we are informed when we should gather together for worship – at least once a week – on the seventh day. All of this is acknowledging that a false system of worship will be established between the seas (people). Since God’s system of worship is based on the seventh day, the other system must acknowledge a different day, and we know that the day that the Catholic system recognises is the first day of the week. When worshipping on this counterfeit day becomes law and God’s people are persecuted for not acknowledging it, then God will, of course intervene/deliver His people.
DAN 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
DAN 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
DAN 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
DAN 12:5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.
DAN 12:6 And one said to the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?
DAN 12:7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.
Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase alludes to the fact that now, after the dark ages, the Bible is available to many people who would study it and their knowledge of the truth will increase. The question, how long shall it be, with the answer, a time, times and a half refers to three and a half years (time being one year). As we k now, Daniel was given visions regarding the future of the world but most of the final scenes were hidden from him since he was told to close the book. Thereafter, John was given further visions for the future which he related in Revelation, thus Daniel and Revelation complement each other. However, in either of these books, where symbolism (animals etc.) is depicted, prophetic time applies (such as it is referred to, one day for a year). If there are no unusual scenes as in Daniel 12, then the time is literal/regular time, (as one day is twenty four hours). This chapter shows the nearness of the closing of the investigative judgement just as chapter 8:14 gives the warning of the beginning of that judgement. The man clothed in white linen said ‘when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people’. That statement in itself should enlighten us to the surety of last day persecution; which will be, of course, by the power that persecuted before. In the following verses that refer to the abomination of desolation is basically the same reference since Rome was know as the abominable nation that makes places desolate by persecution or set at nought those who do not step in line with them.
DAN 12:8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
DAN 12:9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
DAN 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
DAN 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.
DAN 12:12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
DAN 12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.
Verse 11 is important because it reflects the literal timeline of 1290 days when the Universal Sunday law and persecution starts. But the next verse mentions 1335 days. This time begins with the U.S. National Sunday Law that starts the whole process (including their national apostasy that brings their national ruin). The 45 day difference includes the closing scenes of earth’s history as in the announcement of the exact time of Christ coming by the Father Himself – which the saints would understand but the wicked will think it is thunder. The first timeline mentioned, time, times and a half, 1260 days refer to the period of persecution; the 1290 days is the time the papacy will be in power and the 1335 days is the period – when the saints will be anticipating their deliverance.
